Motion-Compensated Noise Reduction in B&W Motion Picture Films
نویسنده
چکیده
Blotchy noise is one of the most common and visually annoying noises noticed in digitized black-and-white motion picture films. This work investigates presents a three-stage blotchy noise reduction scheme combining efforts of temporal median filtering and motioncompensated filtering after joint motion/noise detection. Implementation of each module of the scheme is discussed and finally performance of the scheme is tested with several short sequences and results are discussed.

Noise Robust Motion Refinement for Motion Compensated Noise Reduction
A motion refinement algorithm is proposed to enhance motion compensated noise reduction (MCNR) efficiency. Instead of the vector with minimum distortion, the vector with minimum distance from motion vectors of neighboring blocks is selected as the best motion vector among vectors which have distortion values within the range set by noise level. This motion refinement finds more accurate motion ...
متن کاملReplacement Noise in Image Sequences { Detection
Many archived motion pictures suuer from what we term replacement noise, that is various degradations such as dirt, scratches, ngerprints etc, where the original picture is replaced by some unrelated information. In this paper we use markov random eld based motion eld segmentation to detect these areas, and then interpolate into the gaps using a motion-compensated interpolation scheme to restor...
متن کاملAn improved motion-compensated restoration method for damaged color motion picture films
In this paper, we propose an improved motion-compensated restoration method for color motion picture films deteriorated due to flashing blotches. The method consists of an improved multiresolution block matching with log-D search, a rank ordered differences-based blotch detection and 3D vector median filtering for interpolation of missing data, and utilizes five consecutive frames. Performance ...
متن کاملMotion-compensated post-processing of gated cardiac SPECT images using a deformable mesh model
We present a post-reconstruction motion-compensated spatio-temporal filtering method for noise reduction in cardiac gated SPECT images. SPECT imaging suffers from low photon count due to radioactive dose limitations resulting in a high noise level in the reconstructed images. This is especially true in gated cardiac SPECT where the total number of counts is divided into a number of gates (time ...
